Bring some calm to the chaos of the ER with SmartFlow

This webinar will give you an overview of how SmartFlow can bring some order and consistency to the sometimes chaotic work of Emergency and Critical Care. We will show you how SmartFlow can help your team improve efficiency and communication and therefore, patient care from arrival to discharge.

Triage of the emergency patient

This webinar provides a brief overview of the importance of triage when dealing with emergency cases in practice. The use of triage allows the clinician to prioritise the most critical patients and optimise outcome.

Practical fluid therapy

This talk will provide delegates with a practical approach to fluid therapy – when to give, how much, how fast, what type and how long?

Characterising cavitary effusions DIY diagnosis for emergency patients

Evaluation of  cavitary effusions is a common diagnostic procedure when dealing with emergency patients. Full fluid analysis and complete and definitive classification should be done in a lab and by a clinical pathologist. That said,  the ability to process and characterise the sample correctly within the practice setting can provide rapid results for critically ill patients and offer guidance towards important clinical decisions.  This talk covers the basics of fluid  collection and handling and provides guidance towards in-house analysis and microscopy.

Webinar Focus

Blood film evaluation…..
When and why you need to see it for yourself

Blood film evaluation is a critical step in the interpretation of anaemia that is frequently overlooked. Our automated haematology analysers provide a wealth of information, however there are many instances where the results must be verified by examination of a smear and where visualisation of red cell morphology will point towards specific diagnoses. This presentation provides guidance on optimum sample preparation, performing platelet estimates, differentiating regenerative from non-regenerative anaemia and reaching diagnoses based on cell morphology.

Why so pale? Clinical approach to the anaemic patient

Anaemia is a very common presenting sign in small animal practice and can be associated with a myriad of underlying diseases. A logical diagnostic approach is essential to allow the clinician to rapidly reach the correct diagnosis and initiate the correct treatment. In this webinar we will provide a brief overview of the diagnostic approach to the anaemic patient and explore the most appropriate diagnostic tests.

Deciphering the data….
Interpretation of automated haematology results

Automated haematology analysers provide a huge amount of data that can be confusing. This talk will help you make the most of your results, interpret what your analyser is telling you and help decide when blood film review is necessary.
