Your insider guide to making the most of your trip to the London Vet Show

For many of you, the London Vet Show isn’t just about the conference itself. Whether you arrive a day early or stay on for the weekend, London has so much to offer. As regular visitors (with our own office in the City), we’d love to share some of our favourite insider tips. From handy spots near ExCeL to hidden gems across town, here’s our guide to making the most of your time.

And of course, in between all that exploring, don’t forget to drop by our booth (C50), we’d love to see you there!

Within 10 minutes — Explore around the ExCeL London

If you don’t feel like venturing too far from the conference, there are some great options within walking distance or a quick DLR ride:

  • Thames Barrier Park – A modern riverside park with landscaped gardens and views of the Thames Barrier. Perfect for a quick breather outdoors. (~7–10 mins by DLR / bus)
  • The Fox (Excel, East London) – A lively local pub right beside ExCeL, known as the go-to spot for post-event drinks. Great atmosphere when the show wraps up. (~2–3 mins walk)
  • Yi-Ban – A well-reviewed Chinese restaurant overlooking the Royal Docks, famous for its dim sum and waterside setting. Ideal for a sit-down meal without straying far. (~5–10 mins by DLR / walk)

🚉 15–30 minutes — Explore further, just a tube ride away

If you’ve got a little more time, hop on the Underground / DLR and discover a different side of London:

  • The Crystal – A striking glass building by Royal Victoria Dock, focused on sustainability and smart cities. Unique architecture and interesting exhibits. (~15 mins walk / DLR)
  • Trinity Buoy Wharf – A quirky riverside hub with London’s only lighthouse, street art, creative studios, and unusual views of Canary Wharf. (~25 mins by DLR / walk)
  • Leadenhall Market – Ornate Victorian covered market with boutique shops and cafés. Famous as a Harry Potter filming location, it’s less crowded than Borough Market but equally atmospheric. (~25 mins by Elizabeth Line / DLR)
  • Sky Garden – An indoor tropical garden and bar with skyline views. Book ahead for free entry. (~25–30 mins by DLR / Tube)
  • Brick Lane & Shoreditch – Famous for street art, vintage shops, and food markets. A vibrant slice of East London life. (~25–30 mins via Overground / Tube)
  • Bermondsey Beer Mile – A stretch of railway arches housing independent breweries, taprooms, and street food. Perfect for craft beer lovers and a lively afternoon out. (~25–30 mins by Elizabeth Line)
  • The Mayflower Pub – A historic riverside pub in Rotherhithe, dating back to the 16th century, with cosy interiors and views of the Thames. Said to be the oldest pub on the river. (~25–30 mins by Tube / Overground)
  • St Dunstan in the East – The atmospheric ruins of a medieval church turned into a garden, tucked between skyscrapers in the City. (~30 mins by DLR / Elizabeth Line)

See you at ExCeL!

Whether you stick close to the conference or head out to explore, we hope these tips inspire you to enjoy London beyond the show floor. And remember, between your city adventures, make sure to stop by our booth (c50). We can’t wait to catch up with you at the London Vet Show!
