Looking back on our 2023

6 mins

The turn of the year is always a good time to look back on the past year, so here are our favourite Animana moments of 2023.

We gave the patient file a makeover

One of the biggest changes to Animana in 2023 was the redesign of the patient file. The appearance was refreshed, and we added customisable filters, action buttons and drop-down actions. These changes allow users to personalise the patient file to suit their role or use.

We also took the redesign as an opportunity to improve access to diagnostics, under a new simplified common diagnostics button.

We continually added new features and improvements

Did you know that in 2023 Animana released 12 major versions – not only did we make improvements to the patient file, but here are some other features released:

  • Patient improvements, including;
    • patient body condition
    • easier printing of patient weight graphs
    • estimated patient’s date of birth
    • improved euthanasia workflow
  • Customer communications, including;
    • product information sheets via QR codes
    • pharmaceutical form and active ingredient
    • automatic reminder improvements
    • including patient pronouns merge codes
    • even more merge codes
    • customisable label sizes
  • Regulatory compliance features, including;
    • SMS Text message SPAM compliance
    • DSFinVK (Germany)
  • Reporting and export improvements, including;
    • report rounding
    • csv exporting
    • filtering and sorting
    • accessibility

Beside the major versions mentioned above, most weeks we rolled out minor versions, which took care of everything from security enhancements to optimisation and interface improvements. All without you having to worry about local servers, and their backups, floppy disks, CD-ROMs and USB sticks!

If you didn’t have time to read about the improvements at the time, take a look at everything we added or improved via the link below.

We refreshed the branding and design of supporting websites

2023 saw a minor rebranding from IDEXX, so we used this opportunity to refresh the designs of both our blog and the Animana help hub. On the redesigned help hub home page, you’ll find the same resources but a clearer design, with a new welcoming face.

We made it easier to get help when you need it the most

Within Animana, we added ‘in-page help’ buttons to over 20 screens, allowing you to get help for the screen you’re on, without needing to search for an answer. Look out for the help menus in the top-right of Animana screens. In December, we also added live-feedback tooltips to help you identify and help you with day overview errors.

We added a bit of colour to help you identify Animana in your browser

A small change which you might have missed was the change of Animana’s ‘favicon’. The animana favicon is a small icon that appears in the browser tab next to the website title. In 2023 this was changed to a modern paw icon, and allows you to easily identify your Animana window and differentiate it from other tabs you may have open.

We attended the UK’s premier veterinary event

In November, we attended the London Vet Show, together with our colleagues from the IDEXX organisation. For those of you who were able to attend, it was great to catch up with you, share stories, and get feedback on how we’re doing.

We added more specialist help pages to help solve common themes

We continued our momentum to provide “in focus” pages, which brings together important information from knowledge base articles, course videos and blogs in a single clear page, along with frequently asked questions, tips and troubleshooting. In 2023, we created several in focus pages, including:

We made it easier to request Animana account changes

As an essential part of the Animana help hub, the request page allows you to request changes to your Animana account. Whether it’s a copy of an invoice or enabling a feature; fill in a simple request form when it’s convenient, and our team will get to work on it. The request page now covers more than 20 requests.

We provided best practice articles, tips and more in our monthly newsletter

Every month – and sometimes more often – we create and share best practices, interesting articles, and tips via the Animana start page and our newsletter (if you’re registered!). Last year we received an overwhelmingly positive response to our articles. If you don’t want to miss anything, subscribe to our newsletter via the link below. And if you have a specific request or something you’d like to know more about, let us know and we will investigate for you!
